Curly Hard Maple is a domestic hardwood that is relatively rare. It is a highly figured variety of Hard Maple that results in bands running perpendicular to the grain. These bands are notorious for reflecting light unevenly, creating a unique and distinct appearance. Curly Hard Maple is often sought after for its stunning looks and can be used as an excellent visual accent piece for any kitchen or dining area.

Because of Curly Hard Maple's nature, we recommend against using this product as a cutting board. Cutting marks will be very visible and significantly detract from the natural beauty of the light-scattering banding.

• Grain Raised Finishing Process i This is where our sanding process involves raising the grain before final sanding. Normally, when wood comes into contact with water, it will absorb the water, raising the grain and causing the surface to become rough after that point. Raising the grain before hand, helps ensure that when wood comes into contact with water, it will remain smooth instead of becoming rough.
• Finished by soaking in a butcher block oil bath, and then topped off with a coating of our wood butter
