White River Keepsake Box
Two halves, one heart
The White River Keepsake Box is a heart-shaped wood box for rings, a necklace, or the small things worth keeping close. Each half is milled from a single piece of hard maple or American black walnut, joined by solid brass hinges and held shut by magnets at the point of the heart. The base is lined in black felt; the inside of the lid is left bare for an engraved message. Named for the White River, which rises in the Flat Tops of northwestern Colorado and runs clear past Meeker. Handmade in Colorado by Kineo Mountain Woodsmithing.

One piece per half
Both halves of the White River Keepsake Box are carved from a single block of hardwood. The heart pocket, the hinge mortises, and the magnet seats are all cut into that one piece, so there are no glued-up sides, no corner joints, and nothing to work loose. The walls are left thick enough to feel substantial in the hand.

Brass hinges, magnetic close
Two solid brass barrel hinges sit in the cleft of the heart and let the lid swing all the way open to lie flat. A pair of magnets at the point pull the lid shut with a soft click and keep it closed in a drawer, a bag, or on a nightstand. No clasp, no latch, nothing to catch.

Felt-lined, ready to engrave
A custom-cut black felt sheet lines the base so a ring or a chain doesn't rattle or scratch. The inside of the lid is smooth, bare wood, a natural place for an engraved date, name, or short message. Exterior lid engraving is available as well, added at checkout.
