Zebrawood is native to Western Africa and is named for its alternating dark and light colored pattern, similar to a zebra. The light and dark portions of zebrawood have very different hardness ratings resulting in an inconsistent experience, as well as inconsistent usability. For this reason this piece is finished in a hard coat epoxy on both faces. This finish will effectively protect the zebrawood as well as further popping the color and making it easy to view this beautiful wood without risk of damage.
While the epoxy is perfectly safe for food handling, we do NOT recommend any form of cutting on the piece as it will mar and discolor the epoxy very similarly to a plastic cutting board.
All facing edges have been chamfered for easy handling and a modern look.
